The little highlights of my day
So I'm on my way to work and I stop for coffee at the dunkin donuts on North and Central Park. I turn into the rinky-dink parking and who should turn in after me, but a police officer. Huge surprise there. I quickly park (pretty crappily) and walk in. Inside is a huge smiling coffee cup person and a huge smiling donut person. Frightening? Slightly. Hilarious? Yes. One of the managers is taking pictures of people in line with the cup and the donut. They ask me if I would like my picture taken as well, and being the grouch that I am at 8:30 in the morning without an ounce of caffeine in my system, I said, "hell no." The police officer behind me said yes. This is the result of her agreement.

The image quality is pretty crappy, but the cop is handcuffing the donut. Chicago's finest doing their job.

Anything interesting happen to anyone else today?

Living it up....not....

I'm bored.
I Just got out of work.
I have yet to fill out my Fafsa.
What to do?

Well the obvious is to fill it out isn't it? So anywho. My house arrest is over on friday. Five bucks says that I won't be able to go out on friday to celebrate anyway. Soo upsetting. I feel as though everytime I write its to bitch and moan about how crappy my life is. It's not really that crappy, I'm just feeling a bit stifled.

Oh man, i love Erving Goffman. He calls us out on the crazy, absurd, contradicting things that we do. Read Behavior in Public Places if you want to feel like an idiot.

FINALS WEEK!!

I've got three papers to go before summer "break" begins for me. What's going on for me this summer? Well, i'll be working full time 9 out of the 11wks we have for break.... one week will be spent in Albuquerque, one being FREE in Chicago.
But just because I am working doesn't mean that I won't be having fun. My mom is coming into town this Friday with my stepdad, his mom and my lil cousin. You may remember her as Naughty. Just in case you were wondering, yes, she is still naughty.
What's the occasion? My sister has graduated from DePaul (our unplanned family tradition) and her commencement is this Sunday. Can't forget to mention her graduation party this Saturday as well.
If I can get some exra time off, i might be able to join my mom in a trip up to the rez too, but i asked my boss and she said we'll see....that prolly means no. :-(
I can't wait to be done with these classes though. I have the rest of my year planned out for me. I'll post it here and see how accurate I was.

June: CPS Summer Program
July: visit mom in NM
August: NSF Summer Program
September: Back to School
October: NIEA Conference in Hawaii?
November: AISES Conference in Pheonix
December: Internship in Boston

The only thing I am not really excited about but more like really nervous and scared about is the internship in Boston for 4 weeks. I will be spending my entire break working...away from home, away from my cats, away from my boyfriend, friends and my bed. I heard Boston was a racist town too.....If I get paid a lot then that will make it worth it, but i have a feeling they are going to be working my ass off.

-Soggy Cornflakes and an Extra Cell Phone

So it's been about half an hour since I dragged my ass out of bed. I got to sleep in today because luckily (or not so luckily, since I REALLY need the money) I didn't have to work today. The only thing that sucked about my sleeping in time was the fact that Andie left her cell phone. People are constantly calling it. It sucks. The only thing that was okay was that it meant I could talk to Jeffrey, or Jeffykins as I like to call him. He's the cute sales guy that works there. He's kinda nerdy and earth toney and about 6 years older than I am but thats okay.

I really could have used more sleep--damn I'm lazy. So now I'm sitting here at the kitchen table staring at the screen with a bowl of soggy cornflakes next to me. I hate it when they're soggy. I need to find an apartment. I'm searching.

Bugger. The Cubs lost today. Whatever they won on Friday and Saturday. I guess it was too much to ask for, for them to sweep the crosstown classic. Jerks.

P.S. Ha ha ha. Mambo # 5. I listen to that randomly when I'm getting ready. Bah hahaha.
Comeback #5

Hopefully it does better than Mambo #5....we'll see.

And so, hello again my dear friends. It's Kitty...i'm sure you didn't forget. How could you? I'm the one who laughs loud, cries hard and is named after an animal...

Okay, so I stumbled upon this blog again when I was extremely bored at work one day. You see my boss usually works at the downtown office on mondays and me at the school, so we correspond with each other over the phone. well, she decided not to come into work that day and didn't tell me. so i'm sitting there at work trying to get stuff done, thinking she's in meetings or whatnot....eventually, there's only so much you can do. So i was browsing the good ol' internet, started reading Debbie Reese's blog on Native American Literature when I noticed she uses blogger.com and viola.

As of right now, I am finishing up the year at DePaul. Hopefully I will be graduating next year and then moving on to Northwestern for a Masters Degree in Education....i have all this education so far but I don't feel smart. I can say that I've been getting better at bullshitting papers though. But maybe I'm not bullshitting them, maybe i'm actually writing them...its just a lot easier (Crystal may have to be the judge of this one though). See, DePaul is a very writing-oriented school. Every class involves writing papers. In fact, this year all of my professors do not believe in tests...and so, we write. But in one of my classes we had the option of making a documentary instead and so that is what I am doing. If anyone has any good stories about how the internet makes you feel anonymous and so you do things you wouldn't normally do, give me a call.

I've been working with CPS for the past year and a half...begging for a raise. I am finally seeing all the reasons why my education was crap...its because no one works....ever. oh except for the interns who work their asses off and get paid crap for what they do- which is hold up CPS. (sorry, i am just feeling unappreciated as of now.)
My other research assistant job with NSF is still the same. Racking up experience for grad school and possibly phD....ooh.

You know what tastes really good? Cake frosting made with cream cheese from Aldi. Yeah, I know this because I just ate a spoonful of it. Gross? maybe. Delicious? yes.

Okay, well back to writing papers, which sucks because everyone else is on break already. Hell, even Dani has a 4-day weekend....

I tried to keep it alive, i really did.
Maybe we all just moved on.
Or maybe we all don't have internet access all the time.
Or maybe we do, but we have 50 million other blogs that are way "cooler" than this one
Or maybe we forgot about the good ol days when we said that we would still write in this bizatch when we got to college but then ended up updating our xanga or myspace's more often and dont want to repeat ourselves on a different blog and then end up reading eachother's xanga's or myspace anyway......phew.

??? who knows ???

Wentworth T. Turtle

June 1, 2005-June 27,2005

I would like to say a few words about Wentworth, who's young life was cut short. He was a good turtle. He never snapped at anyone's finger and was always cool and calm. He had a lot of spunk. Whenever he would be let out of his little tank he would run around at top speed. You had to always keep your eyes on him, because if you turned around for two seconds he'd be gone and you had to hunt him down. He was always moving. You could here the tapping of his little shell at night as he attempted to crawl out of his tank. Due to this I notice when something was terribly wrong.

A few days ago I noticed that he wasn't moving as much. We thought it was due to him being cold. So we started leaving him in the iitchen and putting warmer water in his tank. Then he stopped eating and we thought he was going in to hibernation mode because of the cold from the a/c. We did some research and we found that turtles could get pneumonia. I was terrified. A couple of days went by and I noticed that his eyes were getting puffy and a red and a purple spot appeared on the seams of his shell. On sunday I went to animal kingdom and I boought him a new tank, a filter, a heat lamp, little rocks and eye drops and a turtle medicine soak, hoping that this might help revive him.

We put him in his soak and things looked good. This was sunday. He was moving around and we took this as a good sign. We placed him in his new home and he took off and swam a little. He got caught in the current created by the filter so we had to get him out of the water. He was exhausted. I put some drops in his eyes and wished him good night. The next morning my sister said she had seen him swimming when she got home from taking my parents to work. This was at six am. I woke up around 9:30-10:00 and I went to go put him in his invigorating turtle soak when I discovered that he had passed away. I couldn't help it, I cried like a baby. The only thing that makes me happy is knowing that at least for a little while he was happy in his new home and that before he died he went for a little swim.

So thats my story about Wentworth. It wasn't for amusement, it was mainly for me to tell people about him. I'm going to go today to "bury" or rather release him in a little creek or pond or river, whatever I find in the forest preserve.

If I'm geek whatever. i just love turtles and even more I love my pets.

Thursday, June 16, 2005

Hello girls! Well I skipped out on work today, one because I didn't have enough money for the bus (how sad am I), two: because I have to record today at six and I got out at six from work, three: I didn't feel like going in. How horrible. I hope that I don't get fired. Well anywho, I decided to do a testimonial about all of you. What fun. You see I have a Hi5.com account and alllllll of my people from church are on it, apparently they all got into Hi5 instead of myspace, xanga, blogger and all the other crap I don't even know about. So anyway they have this feature on it where you can talk about all of your little online buddies and email it to them and it shows up on their page. So I decided I'd do that for all of you. I don't know where to start. Hmm...I guess I'll go in alphabetical order.

Kitty: Either way your name comes first. Hmmm....what can I say about Jasmine Alphonso? Lots of stuff. You are the one and only CPK. You have an amusing giggle and are so sporty it hurts. Whenever we hang out I have soo much fun and I can't stop laughing. Aww Kitty-chan you're good times.

Latrice: Junior year was the epitome of good times. I don't think I would have survived without you or megan in mr. orb's class. I miss watching one tree hill with you and talking about whipping orlando. You're hilarious and I miss chilling with ya.

Megan: My one and only honkey g. There is so much I could write about how great you are and how much fun we have to gether and all the good times we've had. So I'll keep it short. Megan you are great.

Okay so that's all for today, tune in next time when I shall be writing a tribute to Wentworth.

Hey guys.
so my cousin spent the night last night...but i didn't know she was gonna sleep through the whole morning geez...ok, mind you, it's 8:30am...hehe. anyway, we did have a pretty down night last night. My cousin Brandi left her home 5 months before graduating and has not been at speaking terms with her parents and many others in her family. (Her parents didn't even attend their graduation.) My mom, Brandi and I sat out on our deck and talked...and things got really personal and things came out not only from my cousin Brandi about her childhood but about my mom's childhood (which takes the cake and THEN some) so of course tears were shed and what i was hoping to be a nice happy sleepover turned into a...well, i guess the beginning of a healing process for my cousin. So i just wanted to send out a prayer for her to give her strength through this difficult time in her life and that she finds what she needs to begin healing and move along in her life.

Dearest Latrice, I humbly accept your apology. Thank you. Megan darling I know the pain you feel about work. Everyday I have to deal with people who don't understand we do not serve Ice cream sodas. Who don't understand that the prices will never change. Ben and Jerry's is expensive get over it. A lot of super premium ice cream is expensive!!! You darling it is a simple and widely known fact that the mass majority of people are stupid and we just have to live with it. People suck, but we'll survive. Just always remember that for every 20 arseholes out there, there is one decent person. That one decent person usually makes things all worth while :) Okay now I feel like Dr. Phil, but hey whatever. Yesterday was fun, went to a barbecue with college age at the Pastors' house. It was good times. Had a couple hot dogs and a hamburger that I spent about 30 minutes waiting for. Spent most of the time inside the house and hung out with my girls. Then we watched some extreme fighting in like an octagon ring with my Pastor and a whole bunch of people. It was hilarious. Then we saw of course, since we were in a Puerto Rican house, Tito Trinidad box against some guy from Nicaragua. Well, I'm hot and my right hand is falling asleep cuz I was laying on it all night and my hand feels all freaky soo that's all folks!

I'm Mike Jonesssssss

Good evening ladies and gents. It's after 2am on a Sunday morning. I should still be out now, but obviously I'm not. Oh well. Anyway, things with me have been busy. Right after I finished my semester, I started working. I now work at the movie theater on Harlem by the mall. It's an alright job. The pay isn't that great. But I get to see movies for free. All the people that work there are cool, minus the head manager and this one annoying smelly girl that I wanna smack the shit out of. And most of the customers are idiots.

Things that annoy me at work:

-People that get angry at me because we no longer have a Super Combo. They ask 50 times for the Super Combo. If you ask 50 times it won't appear on the menu. And don't give the "But we always get that" bullshit. I don't know what you always get and you sure ain't gettin' it today, so shut the fuck up.

-People that order a bucket of popcorn, some candy, and a Diet Coke. If you're not diabetic, there's really no point to make that Coke diet. Come on, your fat ass is eating a FUCKING BUCKET OF POPCORN. DIET COKE ISN'T GOING TO HELP YOU.

-People that can't find the theater they're supposed to be in. We rip their tickets and tell them exactly where the theater is. And if you didn't understand what I said, and if you didn't see me fucking point to the theater, there's a number on your ticket. COME ON ASSHOLE, HOW HARD IS IT TO MATCH A NUMBER ON A PIECE OF PAPER TO A NUMBER ON THE DOOR. NUMBERS ARE THE SAME IN ALL LANGUAGES.

-Polish people that give me an attitude because I can't understand them. HEY BOGUSLAW, LAST TIME I CHECKED WE WERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WHERE THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE HAPPENS TO BE ENGLISH. I'M SORRY I'M FLUENT IN THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF THIS COUNTRY. IF YOU WANNA TALK SOME MOOSHKI MOOSHSKI GET BACK ON THE FUCKIN' BOAT.

-People that complain about how expensive things are. FUCK YOU. GO WATCH A MOVIE ON WGN AND EAT SOME POTATO CHIPS IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. I TAKE THE FUCKING BUS HERE AND WEAR A STUPID UNIFORM AND SERVE YOUR ASS FOR MINIMUM WAGE. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT IF YOU THINK IT'S EXPENSIVE. AND I SURE DIDN'T MAKE THE PRICES.

Things that annoy me at home:

-Sometimes my parents complain I don't do anything. HEY WHEN'S THE LAST TIME THE 23 YEAR OLD IN THE BASEMENT PICKED UP A FUCKIN' BROOM? HE LIVES IN THE NICE BASEMENT FOR FREE. HE HAS HIS OWN CAR. HE WEARS NICE CLOTHES. HE HAS 50 PAIRS OF NIKES. HE GOT 4 YEARS OF SCHOOL PAID FOR. I GO TO SCHOOL AND WORK ALL DAY. I SURE DON'T WANNA CLEAN WHEN I COME HOME. YOU'RE HOME ALL DAY. COME ON NOW.

-My brother. He smells like a wet cat that bathed in fish. And his teeth are so fuckin' yellow that if our power went out, I wouldn't be too worried about it being dark in the house cuz all he'd have to do is smile and the house would be brighter than hell.

-There's usually not much food to eat. HEY - HERE'S AN IDEA. NEXT TIME YOU GO TO JEWEL, WHY DON'T YOU BUY A WEEK'S WORTH OF GROCERIES SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT GOING TO JEWEL IN 3 DAYS. THAT WAY I CAN EAT FOR A WEEK. It's hard being so brilliant, really.

Things that annoy me about life:

-People that get sprinkles of piss all over the seat. IF YOU'RE A WOMAN, YOU PISS INTO THE TOLIET. YOUR ASS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE SEAT, WHY ARE THERE DROPS OF PISS ALL OVER THE SEAT. DID YOU CROUCH OVER IT AND HAVE A SEIZURE AS YOU WERE PISSING?!

-Guys. So, I finally find this guy I like. He likes me too. Things are going good. Then he gets sent to boot camp for violating his parole. I CAN'T WIN! REALLY, I CAN'T!

-Creepy guys in cars that ask me if I want a ride. IF I WANTED A RIDE, I WOULD'VE GOTTEN IN THE CAR WITH THE FIRST ASSHOLE THAT ASKED ME 20 MINUTES BEFORE YOU.

And that's all I can think about to rant about for now. I'm gonna finish my dinner and go to bed. Merry Christmas fuckheads.

albequerque. that's soo weird. I always think of albequerque as that place that bugs bunny always says he should have made a left turn at. well. I'm so hot and I've been trying to stay in the air conditioning as much as possible. at my job, it's soo damn hot the hot fudge is melting without having to be cooked. the building isn't even cool. so we have these stupid waffle irons on full blast and it's just horrifying right now. I can't even stand it! oh well. I hope everyone else is having fun. I want to say a happy belated birthday to the short ho. It was her birthday on tuesday! well I have to run. this computer is in a non-air conditioned part of the house. by the by, Latrice I'm Kastle. and when I said for the love of all that is green cute and small, I was reffering to wentworth the baby turtle who lives above the television in my living room. but I can also refer to frankie hey ho. I remember he spent some time with me. they were good times...

Hey Hey Hey Yo
I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico now and it's hot and nice outside....but that doesn't matter because i'm inside right now. My mother is in Michigan until Thursday so I have the house to myself and uh...i've been hearing strange noises. I don't think i like it here by myself. I'm hearing shit on the roof and for once we own an actual house so i know it's not the "people upstairs" or the "apartment next door"....and also the birds are chirping SO LOUD and there's one that, i swear, sounds like an owl...but i'm too afraid to go and check...the door randomly slammed shut by itself too, i went and checked it out (like after 20 minutes) and...i'm still here so i guess all is well.
Oh, i think our new cat is pregnant and Jackie, our dog, is so effin fat now...pics to come up later (on the xanga of course, because too much html is involved here and i'm slooooowwww)

As far as transferring colleges go, i'm stuck in a situation again....I really want to go to DePaul, but i still haven't heard anything from them and i'm scared. they are setting me behind in applying for scholarships. And also, i'm not sure where Alex is going to go to college (if he even is). And if he goes away to college it's going to make things even more difficult to bare....i miss that kiddo <3.

Alright, well i hope all is well in Chicago. you guys gotta hold it down for me while i'm gone. i think i'm going to be missing a lot of things while i'm here. since everyone should be out of school any day now and so then the fun begins. When i get back we're doing somethin' crazy- uh-oh, i'm hearing noises on the roof again. im out. peace
